Our Artists

On TODAY FM we aim to provide a range of easy listening artists mainly from years gone buy and from the newer sounds from the early 70's. The variety of artists range from Frank Sinatra to Freddy Finder, Doris Day to Dawn, and The Andrew Sisters to The Dixie Chicks etc.

There are also instrumentals from James Last to The Shadows, and Gospel artists like Daniel O'Donnell, Statler Brothers and Jim Reeves. We are constantly adding to the list so if there is someone you would like to add, we look forward to hearing from you.

Reception

It is recognized there is a vast range of stereo receivers on the market and each type has it's own system of operation.

If for some reason you find it difficult to receive TODAY FM or any other FM station, give Brent a call on 09 439 7798 and maybe a simple re-tune or aerial adjustment will solve the problem. Providing your receiver is in good working condition, we are here to help.

History

Today FM 106.7 was established by local radio enthusiasts Brent and Alison Robertson to provide an alternative radio program to the existing radio stations in the area.

Today FM is a low powered station and while the power limits the coverage of this small station, it can be heard in many parts of the Dargaville township and surrounding district.

Today FM offers an interesting and entertaining blend of music from styles almost forgotten in this day and age. This includes easy listening instrumental, gospel, country and good old toe tapping music of the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's for the more mature listeners.

Since the we went on air in February 2007, there has been a very positive response to our station and the listening audience has been steadily growing. We have been encouraged by the number people that have contacted us to say how much they enjoy our station during the day and continue to listen thro the night. Although the style of music is mainly for an older audience, we have been surprised at the number of younger listeners who have tuned in and enjoy the music of yesteryear.

Being a private radio station; Today FM is advert and news free and we can do community notices free if you supply us with your particular details. The station is on air 24 hours a day with continuous music and our aim is to please some of the people some of the time, so far this seems to be working. If you would like to contact us, you are most welcome, and we hope you will continue to enjoy listening to our little station with a great sound.

Preserve the past

Preserving The Past

As far back as we can remember, there has always been records and most of us have racks and cupboards full of our favorite artists. Then along came the cassette tape and this was a huge improvement for now it was much smaller and compact and easier to use.

But progress never stops and now it is all compact discs [CD's]. Have you ever thought about having your records or tapes transferred to CD disc?

We are able to do that for you and preserve your music for years to come. If you would like to know more plus costing etc, give us a call. Please note that records and tape must be in good condition.

Swing with Stuart

Every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 2 - 4pm

My introduction to swing music began during world war 2, as my parents had a 12 valve "H.M.V." radio with 2 short wave bands and a 12 inch speaker. I can still remember listening in some nights to the 'Voice Of America' which specialized in live broadcasts of radio shows with artists like Al Jolson, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Artie Shaw etc plus other vocalists like the Andrew Sisters, Connie Boswell, Helen Ward and Spike Jones and his City Slickers.

Naturally this music rubbed off on me and as a teenager in the early 50's I used to go dancing at a number of cabarets in Auckland where big bands still reigned for a while. I then became interested in musical comedy shows and performed in Auckland for a few years as a chorus member.

Over the years I have built up a large collection of CD's and LP's, mainly of the 30's thro to the 50's and I have had many of the records transferred to CD to preserve them.
